Alan Opresko

Artist Statement: Alan Opresko retired from State service after a 30 plus year career with the New York State Division of the Budget. In 2017-18, he began creating abstract assemblages consisting of found objects. Although their original functions were no longer relevant, the individual objects had a certain design or style that merited preservation. The finished artworks, consisting of multiple found objects, are grounded in the "look" of the individual items therein. However, when presented together they evolve beyond the individual elements and stand as unique aesthetic constructs. They are wall-mounted, stand-alone or pedestal-displayed sculptures. Alan is self-taught.
