Mary Sherwood is a self taught artist living and working in rural upstate NY. “ I’m drawn to the figure, the unpredictable dynamic nature of watercolor and the beautiful color of pastel. Capturing a gesture, posture, or line of color then fleshing it out in watercolor and pastel is the way I often start my process . My landscapes are not strictly representational, but filtered through my imagination or memory to evoke the essence of a place or emotional response from the viewer.” She is an exhibiting member of the Arts Center of the Capital Region, the Colonie Arts League and the East Banks Arts Alliance.
